Qatar condemns bomb attack on mosque in Saudi Arabia

Qatar expressed its strong condemnation and denunciation of the bombing that targeted Al Rida mosque in Al-Mahasen district of Al Ahsa governorate in Saudi Arabia yesterday.
Four people were killed and 18 wounded in the suicide attack as worshippers were leaving  the mosque after Friday prayers.
In statement issued yesterday, Qatar’s Foreign Ministry said “this criminal act is contrary to all moral and humanitarian values and principles and the heavenly religions”, expressing confidence “in the ability of the Saudi security services to monitor and foil such criminal acts and bring the criminals to justice”.
The statement  stressed Qatar’s backing for Saudi Arabia and full support for all actions taken to promote security and stability.
It expressed Qatar’s sincere condolences to families of the victims, the Saudi government and people, wishing speedy recovery to the injured.
The Saudi  interior ministry said two worshippers and two policemen were killed in the attack.
Ministry spokesman Mansur al-Turki said a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the mosque when police stopped him from entering the premises.
Another would-be suicide bomber was arrested after he was injured in a shootout with security forces outside the mosque.
Al Jazeera reported that an attacker, wearing an explosives belt, shot at worshippers inside the mosque before he was arrested. Page 4
