The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) has spotted nine violations during an
inspection campaign conducted at the animal fodder shops at the Central Market. The campaign was aimed at ensuring the compliance of retailers with the stipulation of Law No 8 for 2008
regarding consumer protection. Accordingly, MEC inspectors found nine consumer violations, which were mostly regarding absence of price tags, non-supply of purchase invoices, and invoices with the clause “Goods once sold will not be taken back or exchanged” in violation of consumer rights. The penalty for these violations include administrative closure of the outlet for various periods and/ or fines that can reach up to QR1mn.
