HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has received a telephone call from Canada’s Foreign Minister Stephane Dion.
Discussions during the call dealt with bilateral relations between Qatar and Canada and ways of enhancing them.

Turkmenistan Deputy Foreign Minister Matiev Berdenaaz met yesterday in Ashgabat with Acting Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of Qatar Hamad Rashid Hamad al-Athba.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, means to develop them and enhance prospects of co-operation in addition to topics of mutual interest.
Two Indian maids die of smoke from room heaters
Two Indian housemaids have died after inhaling smoke at their work place in Doha, sources said yesterday.
Unconfirmed reports said the death occurred due to the poor condition of the room heaters they were using.
The victims were identified as Puthula Pushpavathi and Kuneha Manga, both 52. Both were from the East Godavari district of the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
The chilly weather over the last two days has prompted many people to use room heaters.
