Exciting family activities at Aspire Zone

Aspire Zone Foundation (AZF) is organising a variety of activities on National Sport Day (NSD) designed to encourage people to stay fit and promote sports activity. The programme for NSD aligns with the Foundation’s objective of enhancing healthy lifestyle behaviours and building a healthy community, contributing to the fulfilment of the Qatar National Vision 2030.
NSD activities will take place across all of AZF’s facilities and venues as well as the spacious outdoor fields and pitches at Aspire Park. This year’s programme has more number of activities besides newer attractions as compared to previous years.
Aspire Dome will be hosting a number of physical activities that cater to all the members of the family, young and old. These are designed to help those taking part build up endurance and muscle mass, and enhance flexibility. They will take place from 9am – 3pm.
The ASPIRE Academy Sports Science Department will be running a series of “come and try” activities taking place at the indoor athletics track at Aspire Dome between 10am and 4pm. These include a 20-metre sprint for people to see if they can run as fast as Usain Bolt, a throwing speed test to see if people can match Major League baseball pitchers, a vertical jump test to see if people can fly like Michael Jordan and a 200-metre bike race for friends and family to race one another.
At the end of each test, participants will receive a certificate recording how their results compare to a number of athletes and world champions.
One of the highlights in this year’s programme of activities is the 5,000 steps walkathon, which will start at 9am in Aspire Park next to the Burgerry restaurant. The walk consists of 12 stations at which participants will receive valuable tips and advice about physical activity and leading a healthy lifestyle. Participants will receive a booklet at the start line and will need to collect a stamp at each station along the way to indicate that they have completed the whole route. Designed to promote the value of walking in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, the walk is open to all ages to take part.
The full list and details of all the activities on offer on the day at Aspire is available on Life in Aspire mobile application, the Life in Aspire website – www.lifeinaspire.qa – and any of the Aspire Zone Foundation’s various social media channels.
