Qatar Charity (QC) has signed five agreements with the Islamic Dawa Organisation and Union of Relief and Development Associations in Lebanon to implement relief projects for Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
The projects will be carried out at a cost of around QR5mn, divided equally between QC and the Islamic Dawa Organisation.
The agreements are part of what humanitarian, Gulf, Islamic and international organisations pledged to do on the sidelines of the fourth annual conference organised by the union, and sponsored by QC, in Istanbul a few days earlier.
The main objective of the conference was to mobilise support for the benefit of Syrian refugees in Lebanon.
The agreements were signed by Yousef bin Ahmed al-Kuwari, CEO of QC; Hammad Abdulqader al-Sheikh, director-general of the Islamic Dawa Organisation; and Hussam al-Ghali, general co-ordinator for the Union of Relief and Development Associations in Lebanon; in the presence of Mohamed bin Ali al-Ghamdi, executive director for international development; Mohamed Rashid al-Ka’bi, QC’s relief head, board of directors; and Mohamed Adrdour, relief affairs expert at QC.
The agreements aim to transform poor Lebanese families and Syrian refugees from consumers into producers through the implementation of productive projects. These projects can be moved to Syria after the crisis is over so that they can contribute to its rebuilding. This will be done through the Sanad project, which will help the neediest Syrian families in Lebanon bear the burdens of life.
Through the Rakezet Hayah project, the families will enjoy stability, while the Orphans Sponsorship project will help address the issues faced by orphaned Syrians in Lebanon. In addition, the Islamic Preachers Sponsorship project will help deal with the psychological problems associated with asylum and raise awareness through advanced methods. The problems Syrian refugees face when somebody dies will be solved through the Waqf project, through which a piece of land will be provided for burial.  
Al-Kuwari said, “QC always makes sure to reinforce the spirit of co-operation and partnership among humanitarian organisations for the benefit of displaced Syrians and refugees. I thank the Islamic Dawa Organisation, QC’s strategic partner, and Union of Relief and Development Associations, QC’s executive partner in Lebanon.”
On his part, al-Sheikh said: “We are willing to sign more agreements with QC in the different fields of humanitarian work. We thank QC for sponsoring the fourth annual conference and its commitment to releasing field reports to donors and financiers.”
Al-Ghali commended the efforts made by QC for the benefit of Syrian refugees in Lebanon and the Lebanese themselves.
