4th Dolphin Energy Doha Dash sees record turnout

An impressive 3,746 participants took part in the fourth annual Dolphin Energy Doha Dash that was held yesterday at Losail International Circuit as part of Qatar’s National Sport Day. Double Olympic gold medallist Dame Kelly Holmes took part in the popular community event as she joined runners in the 10km race.
Shamilah Halford came first in the women’s 5km run and finished the race in 21 minutes and three seconds, while in the men’s 5km race Hillary Rotich topped in 17 minutes and eight seconds. As for the 3km women’s run, Ellie Walters placed first with 11 minutes and 56 seconds. Oliver Guilhem came first in the men’s race and finished in 10 minutes and 27 seconds. Erin King finished the 1km run for children in first place with three minutes and 57 seconds and Alex Watkins finished in three minutes and 46 seconds. Nicoleta Hodrogea and Hillary Ngetich were named the winners of this year’s newest addition, the 10km run, that attracted hundreds of seasoned runners from across the city. They were able to finish in 41 minutes 41 seconds, and 31 minutes and 42 seconds, respectively.
Double Olympic medalist Kelly Holmes, who is also the Dolphin Energy Doha Dash 2016 ambassador, said: “It has been a great opportunity for me to return to Doha and join the runners again this year. It was refreshing to see many families coming out to participate and cheer each other on. Sports can be so much fun and this is a key message from today’s event. ”
Jamie Cunningham, CEO and founder of Professional Sports Group, added: “The Dolphin Energy Doha Dash has established itself as a key event in Qatar’s National Sport Day calendar.
