Hundreds of Qatargas employees and their families participated in various sporting events and activities to mark the National Sport Day (NSD) 2016 yesterday in various locations.
The event is part of Qatargas’ commitment to promote the health and wellbeing of their employees and the community, and is a key objective of its Corporate Social Responsibility programme.
Employees first took part in a 2km walkathon at Al Gharafa Sports Club followed by a series of sports competitions and activities at different venues.
Popular sports like football, beach volleyball, basketball, table tennis and cricket were among the activities available.
There was also a special area for children with attractions including bouncy castles and slides.
Qatargas medical and security support services were on stand-by to ensure the safety and security of all participants.
People also had the opportunity to have their blood sugar levels, blood pressure and body mass index checked at a dedicated health check area set up by the Qatargas Medical Department.
The day’s activities at Al Gharafa Sports Club came to a close with the prize-giving ceremony for the winners of the various competitions.
Golf enthusiasts enjoyed playing at the Doha Golf Club with a number of golfing lessons delivered by PGA professionals.
Activities were also held at the state-of-the-art gymnasium at Qatargas’ Doha head office with general workout sessions for regular members.
A range of activities were also organised in Al Khor Community.
In addition to a 5km walkathon, several popular sports and games such as football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, cricket and athletics were also organised.
There were also plenty of fun games for children.
More than 4,000 people participated in the activities held at the various locations in Al Khor.
