Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) and Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) celebrated National Sport Day (NSD) with the participation of their staff and their families, patients and visitors in a range of healthy activities.
PHCC managing director Dr Mariam Abdul Malik stated that the corporation is translating the national strategy for primary healthcare and the national development strategy of Qatar which confirms that the sport must be a source of inspiration for an active and healthy
community.
Maryam al-Hamadi, corporate communications and public relations executive director, PHCC, said: “We are working together with partners in the health sector to contribute to awareness improvement of the health and physical level of the community.
Shamma Abdulla Behair, corporate communications department’s public relations and community engagement director, HMC, said the activities and the participation of so many staff and their families demonstrate the corporation’s commitment to the importance of maintaining a physically active lifestyle.
The HMC National Sport Day organising committee arranged a full range of healthy activities for patients and visitors at Al Wakra, Al Khor and The Cuban Hospitals which included mini football, basketball and table tennis.
The main venue for HMC’s events was Bayt Al Dhiyafah in Hamad bin Khalifa Medical City where many people took part in activities including a 1.5km walkathon around the venue.
HMC and PHCC also joined with the Ministry of Public Health in Qatar National Sports Day events held at Aspire Park including a walkathon and other activities.
