Qatar’s Minister of Transport and Communications HE Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti and Qatar Airways (QA) Group chief executive Akbar al-Baker joined thousands of airline employees and their families to celebrate the National Sport Day recently.
Participants took part in several fun-filled activities, including football, basketball, and cricket tournaments, among others. The NSD was designed to celebrate the values, traditions and benefits of sports.
“I am proud that as a nation, sport is celebrated with a dedicated national holiday,” al-Baker said. “Our government’s 2030 vision encourages the participation in a variety of cultural and sporting activities and as an airline, and as a commercial ambassador for my State, we have closely aligned ourselves to this vision.”
“In doing so, and by partnering with key sports sponsorships, we reflect the values of sports as a means of bringing people together, something that is at the core of our own brand message - Going Places Together,” he added.
QA Group has aligned itself with sporting partnerships around the world, sponsoring FC Barcelona, Al Ahli Saudi Arabia FC, Qatar Stars League, Qatar Squash Federation, Pakistan Super Cricket League, and Asia and the Qatar Football Association.
