An alert Public Works Authority (Ashghal) team cordoned off the area surrounding an uncovered manhole on Ahmed Bin Hanbal Street in Matar Qadeem.
A resident saw the open manhole, which could have a posed a threat to pedestrians, while passing through the area and posted a photograph of it on Twitter.
On seeing the image, Ashghal sent an emergency team to the spot and cordoned off the area, using road safety cones.
Ashghal also thanked the resident for her initiative.
The authorities said the manhole would be covered tomorrow (Sunday).
