The Education Committee of Qatar Chamber (QC) will submit a set of recommendations to the Capital Security Department on the issue of police intervention in school disputes for review.
This was decided at a meeting held recently.
The meeting also decided that a joint meeting of the committee members and police representatives will be held to study the procedures and precautions for any future police intervention in schools if necessary.
Further, such procedures will be implemented in close co-ordination with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
The committee recently convened its second meeting for this year, headed by Dr Jabr bin Muhaana al-Nuaimi on behalf of QC vice-chairman, and head of the committee Mohamed Ahmed bin Tuwar.
At an earlier meeting, the committee had reviewed the issue in the presence of Brigadier Nasser bin Jabr al-Nuaimi, director of the Capital Security Department, stressing that the police should interfere in school disputes only when absolutely necessary and when all other means of an amicable settlement are exhausted by the school management.
Meanwhile, the committee members agreed that every private school should appoint a person to handle communication with the local press. The media outlets, on their part, should refer to these persons for information pertaining to schools.
The committee will prepare a list of such persons and send it to all media outlets.
Earlier, the committee had expressed dissatisfaction with the way some school-related issues were published without having any version of the schools concerned.
Further, the committee discussed the issue of some government entities setting up and operating private schools.
The issue was accordingly referred to the QC legal affairs department for further study.
