Green building council to launch new season of sustainability education programme

Qatar Green Building Council (QGBC), a member of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development (QF), will launch a new season of its Sustainability Education and Professional Development Programme in March.
The new season of the education programme will feature an array of standardised courses and workshops for creating technical awareness and knowledge of green buildings and sustainability in Qatar. These courses will highlight a multitude of related topics, including sustainability in the built environment, rating systems, essentials of a green building, and green buildings’ certification process.
Since the launch of the programme in November 2014, over 1,100 trainees have attended numerous courses encompassing 16 different topics related to green buildings and sustainability.
In addition, to mark the start of the new season, QGBC has launched a survey titled ‘What will you learn this year, 2016?’ The survey seeks to understand and identify gaps in Qatar’s green building and sustainability education sector. It is aimed at helping QGBC expand its current portfolio of professional development training courses to respond to the ever increasing demand in the country. The survey can be accessed through QGBC’s website: http://www.qatargbc.org/courses
Meshal al-Shamari, director of QGBC, said: “Education and sustainability-oriented professional development in Qatar are key pillars of QGBC’s mission to foster awareness and understanding of green buildings in Qatar.”
The survey’s outcome will be shared with the wider community.
