Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu  has praised the level of relations between Turkey and Qatar, which he described as “deep-rooted and good.”
In his keynote speech yesterday before deputies of the ruling Justice and Development Party’s (AK Party) on Turkish foreign relations with the countries of the region and the latest developments in the Middle East, especially in Syria, Davutoglu said that Ankara has deep-rooted and strong relations with the State of Qatar.
He pointed out that his country has taken measures to protect its border with Syria, stressing that Turkey will continue to support the oppressed in order to raise their voices to the world.
Turkey has the right to combat terrorism, protect its territories and its citizens as its duty to protect their guests, he added.

National Day greetings sent to Lithuanian leader
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to President of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaiteon on her country’s National Day.

FM receives message from UAE counterpart
HE the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani received a written message from the UAE Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan yesterday.
The message was received by HE the Foreign Minister’s Assistant for Service and Follow-up Affairs Rashid bin Khalifa al-Khalifa during a meeting yesterday with the UAE ambassador to Qatar Saleh Mohamed bin Nasra.

Violations detected at Sealine outlets
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce inspectors have spotted seven consumer violations at the Sealine commercial outlets.
The sudden inspection campaign covered shops providing the visitors of the coastal area with various services, including selling electrical appliances, food items and renting tents and bikes, besides the eateries.
Most of the violations were regarding charging prices higher than those displayed and posting fraudulent information about the items on display.

Accountant jailed for fraud
A Doha misdemeanour court has sentenced an expatriate man to six years in jail and fined him QR3,000 for embezzling QR91,000 from the company where he used to work as an accountant.
The court ordered his deportation upon serving the sentence.
Local Arabic daily Arrayah reported yesterday that the defendant stole the money by issuing 11 counterfeit invoices about fictitious transactions.
The fraud was discovered when an audit was conducted at the company to transfer its ownership. When confronted with the fraud, the defendant admitted taking the money and promised to repay if the fraud was not reported to police. However, he failed to honour his word.
At the interrogation, he admitted counterfeiting the invoices and taking the money claiming that he needed the money for his wife’s surgery.

Bangladesh expat minister meets Qatari envoy
Minister of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment in Bangladesh Nurul Islam met Qatar’s ambassador Ahmed bin Mohamed al-Dehaimi in Dhaka yesterday.
They discussed bilateral relations and issues of mutual interest. They also discussed ways to enhance co-operation between the two countries.

Real estate deals worth QR27mn
The total value of trading in real estate contracts registered with the Real Estate Registration Department at the Ministry of Justice from February 7 to 11 was worth QR272mn.
According to the weekly bulletin issued by the department, the list of properties that were traded includes open plots of land, houses, compound and multi purpose buildings, which are located in the municipalities of Doha, Umm Salal, Al Khor, Al Dhakira, Al Rayyan, Al Daayen and Al Wakrah.
