Renowned pianist Dora Deliyska to perform on Feb 21

Fifty One East in collaboration with Yamaha Music Gulf FZE will host a live concert of internationally renowned pianist Dora Deliyska at the Qatar National Theatre on February 21.
Performing on the unique Liszt Anniversary Grand by B?sendorfer,  Deliyska’s classical concert marks the global debut of the ‘B-A-C-H Project,’ which is scheduled to be performed by the pianist for the first time in Europe in March.
The special event, taking place a day before the opening of the 2016 Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition (DJWE), is being held under the patronage of HE the Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem bin Nasser al-Ali.
In a successful follow-up to Fifty One East’s accomplishments for the 2015 DJWE, Deliyska will once again perform daily at the 2016 event.
The ‘B-A-C-H Project’ is a concert programme developed with a unique concept. After many years of research and analysis, Deliyska has curated a combination of pieces from three master works of piano literature by J S Bach, D Shostakowitsch and F Chopin.
The celebrated pianist divides the programme in four blocks (the four letters) and plays the pieces in each individual block without intermission in such a way that this continuity influences the individual pieces into one new composition. Every separate block lasts about 15 minutes and is designed to provoke a specific effect: melancholy, agitation, serenity and passion, allowing the listener to experience the music with a personal narrative.
Deliyska, regarded as one of the most important Franz Liszt interpreters of the young generation, will perform scintillating pieces and surround the ambience with her captivating sounds.
The pianist believes that this enlightening project gives a new glimpse of the piano performing arts and helps establish a very intimate connection between the artist and listener.
B?sendorfer, in honour of Franz Liszt 200th birthday, has designed a Liszt Anniversary Grand as a limited edition worldwide with only 25 pianos. Deliyska will be performing on one of these unique pianos, recognised worldwide for the exceptional quality.
Deliyska, who started playing at the age of five, has attracted the attention of audiences and critics through live concerts across Europe, Asia and South America.
She is a festival favourite having performed at some of the world’s most recognised platforms including ‘Varna Summer Days’, ‘March Music Festival’, ‘Europalia 2002’ amongst many others.
The 2016 DJWE runs from February 22 to 27 at the newly opened Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre in West Bay. Fifty One East participates in the event with a pavilion that showcases a wide collection of jewellery and watches from some of the most renowned international brands.
