Mall of Qatar to open in third quarter of 2016

The Mall of Qatar, described as ‘one of the largest shopping malls in the world,’ will be opened in the third quarter of this year, a senior official of UrbaCon Trading & Contracting announced on Thursday.
“The construction of the Mall of Qatar will be complete in August,” stated Qatar-based UrbaCon’s CEO Moataz al-Khayyat.
The Mall of Qatar site is surrounded by one of the upcoming stadiums for the FIFA 2022 World Cup, he explained, referring to the importance of the location.
“The Mall of Qatar will attract visitors from the other Gulf states as it is also located next to the railway project that will link Qatar and the GCC in 2019,” he observed.
The 450,000sqm Mall of Qatar will have 7,000 parking spaces, a premium Carrefour hypermarket, a family entertainment area of 16,500sqm, Salam luxury department store, over 100 restaurants, 500 stores, an indoor streetscape with double height flagship stores from across the globe as well as a Cinemacity complex of 19 cinema screens including the largest IMAX laser 3D in the world, two signature restaurants and a five-star Fashion Hotel with 210 rooms operated by Curio Collection Hilton.
The family entertainment area is to feature KidzMondo, an impressive scaled-down miniature city, providing role playing real life experience for children.
