Qatar SC grab crucial win over Ahli

Qatar Sports Club improved their survival chances after winning a five-goal thriller against fellow strugglers Al Ahli.
The Kings followed up last week’s 1-0 victory over Al Sadd with a vital three points against a side which is now just two points ahead of them in the QSL table.
Mouhcine Iajour gave Ahli the lead after just 12 minutes at Seham Bin Hamad Stadium. It was a moment to forget for QSC goalkeeper Mohammed Mubarak, as he allowed Iajour’s tame shot to squirm through his hands.
Another goalkeeping howler allowed QSC to equalise in the 40th minute. South Korean midfielder Han Kook-Young ran at the Ahli defence and hit the ball from fully 30 yards. Amer al-Dossari should easily have kept the ball out but he succeeded only in parrying the ball over the line.
Argentine midfielder Emiliano Vecchio scored a quick-fire double in the second half to put QSC out of sight. He converted a penalty in the 71st minute before producing a good finish less than two minutes later after slack defending from the Brigadiers.
Ahli captain Meshal Abdullah made it 3-2 in the 75th minute to give his side hope, but QSC held on to claim a second priceless victory on the spin. Sebastiao Lazaroni’s men are now four unbeaten and have momentum on their side as they aim to scrap their way out of the relegation zone.

Al-Haidos brace helps Sadd return to winning ways
Hassan al-Haydous scored two and made another as Al Sadd beat Al Khor 3-1 to improve their chances of finishing in the top four. The Wolves went into the game after four matches without a win, while Khor had lost just once in their previous six outings.
It was Sadd who looked the more likely throughout the 90 minutes though, and they took the lead thanks to a penalty from al-Haidos. The Qatari midfielder slipped just before making contact with the ball, but his spot kick was still good enough to beat Baba Djibril.
Al-Haidos turned provider for the second goal in the 73rd minute. His run and cross drew the Khor defence and allowed Hamza Senhadji to sweep the ball home from inside the area.
Al-Haidos grabbed his second in the 80th minute after a strong run down the left flank. The Khor defence backed off as he approached the penalty area and al-Haidos struck the ball home from 20 yards.
Khor grabbed a consolation goal in the 90th minute. Waleed Mohyaden cut in from the right before unleashing a stunning left-footed shot from 25 yards which flew into the corner of Saad al-Dosari’s goal.

Sagbo the star as Salal edge towards top four
Umm Salal boosted their top four hopes with a 2-0 win over Al Sailiya.
Yannick Sagbo scored his 12th goal of the season to put the Orange Fortress ahead in the 71st minute before Rami Fayez rounded off the win late on.
The result pushes Salal up to fifth, though Bulent Uygun’s side will drop a place should Al Arabi grab at least a draw against league leaders Al Rayyan on Saturday.
Sailiya, meanwhile, remain seventh on 25 points and will find it a struggle to break into the Qatar Cup places after this defeat to their nearest rivals.
After a quiet first half, Salal took the lead from a corner 19 minutes from time. Ismail Mousa swung in the set piece, Abdulgadir Ilyas headed the ball down and Sagbo pounced at the back post.
The second goal came from an unlikely source in left-back Rami Fayez when Salal caught Sailiya on the counter attack in the 89th minute.
