His life and work will be commented on by a number of distinguished experts including Dr Abdalhakeem Alkhelaifi, professor of Islamic Philosophy at Qatar University, Dr Yahya Michot, professor of Islamic Studies and Christian-Muslim Relations at Hartford Seminary in the United States, and Dr Syed Nomanul Haq, professor and adviser in Social Sciences and Liberal Arts at the Institute of Business Administration in Pakistan. The seminar will provide attendees with the unique opportunity to learn about one of the world’s most influential thinkers, whose wide-ranging contributions extend far beyond the Islamic world.
Ibn Sina’s al-Qanun fi al-Tibb (The Canon of Medicine) was used well into the 17th century, and his Kitab al-Shifa, regarded as his magnum opus, remains an important work of philosophy and science to this date.
Dr Aisha al-Mannai, director CMCC commented: “At our centre, we consider it an honour to be able to remember this great son of human civilisation and recount his academic feats through the lens of three well-known Islamic
specialists.”
