The Al Hazm intersection on Al Khafji Street was opened to traffic recently following its conversion from a roundabout, the Public Works Authority (Ashghal) said Tuesday.
Remaining sidewalk and pavement works are still in progress.
Opening of the intersection comes as part of the works on the Al Khafji Street Development Project. This phase of the project includes converting the Al Hazm roundabout to a signal-controlled intersection and expansion of Al Khafji Street from three to four lanes, starting from the Al Hazm intersection for 300m towards the Al Jamiaa intersection, and also from the Al Hazm intersection to connect it with Jelaiha intersection (first stage), according to the Ashghal statement.
The Al Khafji Street Development project is part of a series of vital projects implemented by Ashghal to improve and enhance the network of local roads and expressways and enhance traffic safety across the country.
Road enhancement works include converting roundabouts to signal-controlled intersections, installing intelligent transportation systems, street lighting and pedestrian paths.
