HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued the following decrees:
1. Decree No 15 of 2016, ratifying an agreement on the regulation of the employment of Cambodian labour in Qatar between the governments of Qatar and Cambodia, which was signed in Doha on May 9, 2011.
2. Decree No 16 of 2016, ratifying an agreement on economic, commercial and technical co-operation between the governments of Qatar and Ukraine, which was signed in Doha on January 13, 2002.
3. Decree No 17 of 2016, ratifying a memorandum of understanding on tourism co-operation between the governments of Qatar and Kyrgyzstan, which was signed in Doha on December 8, 2014.
Foreign Minister attends Somalia conference
HE the Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani took part yesterday in a Ministerial conference on Somalia, which was held in Istanbul.
HE the Minister praised the efforts of Somalia’s President Hassan Sheikh Mohamoud and Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid Ali Sharmarke in countering terrorism and forming a parliament with 30% women members.
The Minister praised the progress made in Somalia in terms of democratic transition, despite the grave challenges facing the country. He stressed Qatar’s support to the political process in Somalia and condemned all terrorists attacks that aim to destabilise the country.
The Foreign Minister stressed that it was important for the international community to support Somalia.
Instruments of ratification
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani issued the following five instruments of ratification:
1. Instrument of ratification for a draft agreement on sea transport between the governments of Qatar and Turkey. The draft agreement was signed in Doha on December 2, 2015.
2. Instrument of ratification for a draft co-operation agreement in the education field. The agreement was signed between the governments of Qatar and Turkey in Doha on December 2, 2015.
3. Instrument of ratification for a draft co-operation protocol in the health field between the governments of Qatar and Turkey, signed in Doha on December 2, 2015.
4. Instrument of ratification for a draft Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the governments of Qatar and Afghanistan. The draft MoU was signed in Doha on December 29, 2015.
5. Instrument of ratification for a draft co-operation agreement in the culture and arts field between the governments of Qatar and Kazakhstan. The draft was signed in Doha on October 26, 2015.
Emir approves Cabinet decision
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani approved Cabinet Decision No 7 of 2016 on the application of the provisions of Law No 24 of 2002 on retirement and pensions on the Qatari employees in Aqar Real Estate Development & Investment Company.
Independence Day greetings sent
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani, HH the Deputy Emir Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad al-Thani and HE the Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani have sent cables of congratulations to Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei on the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day.
Transport Minister meets envoys
HE the Minister of Transport and Communications Jassim Seif Ahmed al-Sulaiti held separate meetings with the ambassadors of Germany, Niger and Eritrea, Hans-Udo Muzel, Mubarak Hassan Boubacar, and Ali Ibrahim Ahmed yesterday in Doha.
Co-operation in the field of transport and communications was discussed.
Indian embassy open house
The Indian embassy will hold an Open House on February 28 to address any urgent consular and labour problems faced by Indian nationals. The Open House will be held from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, the embassy said in a statement. Written information on issues/cases proposed to be discussed with the embassy can be provided from 5.30pm to 6pm. This will be followed by a meeting with embassy officials from 6pm to 6.30pm.
