In the 11th IBQ Masters Cricket Tournament, Doha Motors earned their maiden Championship victory when they defeated Engineering Supplies by eight wickets.
Engineering Supplies won the toss and elected to bat. However, excellent bowling by Doha Motors restricted them to 50 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the first 10 overs, with their innings being wrapped up for 88 runs in 19.5 overs.
Ansar batted well to score 21 runs. The knock, that included a six, came to an end after Anuraj caught him off Nilesh. Sanaf remained unbeaten at 18 runs (1 four). Namsheed was the only other batsman to reach double figures with 10 runs.
For Doha Motors, Munib claimed 3 wickets, while Nilesh and Shameem took 2 wickets each. Jaber, Siva and Akram scalped a wicket each.
In reply, Doha Motors batsmen were cautious, most of them retiring after the mandatory 12 balls. Shameem remained unbeaten at 21 runs with 2 sixes, and so were Nilesh (17 runs, 1 four) and Munib (16 runs, 1 four). Doha Motors reached their 89-run target comfortably losing only 2 wickets in 15 overs.
For Engineering Supplies, Sajeesh and Shajeer claimed a wicket each.
Doha Motors all-rounder Munib, who scalped three and scored an unbeaten 16, was adjudged Man of the Finals.
ACC’s Firoz was given the Best Batsman of the Tournament award, while Rajneesh of Engineering Supplies was given the Best Bowler. Hanan’s Imran was adjudged the Best All-Rounder award, while ACC’s Abrar was the Best Wicketkeeper.
At the finals prize distribution ceremony, IBQ’s Electronic Banking manager Bacchu Nazareth and Financial Institutions assistant relationship manager Cedric were the chief guests.
A one-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect for Mohamed Nawas, who passed away in Sri Lanka. Nawas was the head of the Umpiring Panel of Qatar Cricket Association.

QCA to conduct coaching, umpiring course
The Qatar Cricket Association will organise a beginners’ course for coaches and umpires (Zero Level) in the first week of March.
The names of the successful candidates will be recommended to the Asian Cricket Council for Level 1 course in both disciplines.
The six-day course will be conducted every evening (6 to 8pm) at the QCA Office by qualified instructors.
The courses are free of charge but candidates will be selected after an interview which will look into their background, interest and contribution towards the game.
