Emir appoints new envoy to Greece
HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani yesterday issued Emiri decision No 17 of 2016, appointing Sultan Khalaf al-Muraikhi as ambassador to Greece.
The law is applicable from its date of issue and should be published in the official gazette.
Prime Minister arrives in Tunisia
HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa al-Thani arrived in Tunisia yesterday to participate in the 33rd meeting of Arab Ministers of Interior.
Tunisian Prime Minister Habib Essid received the Prime Minister. Tunisian Minister of Interior Hedi Majdoub, Secretary-General of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers Dr Mohamed Koeman and Qatar’s ambassador in Tunisia Abdullah Nasser Abdullah Alhumaidi were also present on the occasion.
QOC chief meets ambassadors
Secretary-General of Qatar Olympic Committee Dr Thani bin Abdul Rahman al-Kuwari met the ambassadors of France and Sweden to Qatar Eric Chevallier and Ewa Polano, respectively.
Talks during the meetings dealt with aspects of co-operation in the field of sport and means of enhancing them.
Advisory Council holds meeting
The Advisory Council yesterday held its weekly meeting chaired by HE the Speaker of Mohamed bin Mubarak al-Khulaifi. The Council reviewed draft law on biological weapons, and decided to refer it to the Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee for further study and a report. Meanwhile, the Advisory Council’s Legal and Legislative Affairs Committee studied the draft law on biological weapons.
Qatar to host ILO delegation
The Qatari government will host a high level delegation of the International Labour Organisation (ILO) in Doha. The ILO delegation will hold high level meetings with Qatari government officials and representatives of the private sector and will visit construction and worker accommodation sites. The Ministry of Administrative Development, Labour and Social Affairs said in a statement that it looks forward to working with the ILO on various issues concerning workers in Qatar and discussing the progress that has been made in improving the living and working conditions of workers in the country.
Two health centres implement CIS
Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC) has implemented the clinical information system (CIS) in 17 health centres since it was launched in 2014.
The CIS was applied in Al Rayyan and Al Shamal health centres yesterday and it will be applied in the rest of health centres according to a specific time plan.
The CIS ensures speed and accuracy in procedures and health services provided at the health centres.
PHCC stated that it has completed all the required procedures to implement CIS in both the health centres by training the employees and qualifying the systems to conduct the experimental implementation this week before the actual activation of the system next week.
PHCC said the system will contribute to ensure speed and accuracy with procedures in place in the health centres.
Ceiling lamps by Ikea recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC), in collaboration with Hamad and Mohamed Al-Futtaim Company – Ikea WLL, has announced the recall of Ikea Hyby, Lock and Rinna ceiling lamps due to the possibility of the glass shades to fall.
Customers who have bought these lamps have been urged to take them down immediately and return to the Ikea store.
The MEC said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that suppliers follow up on product defects and recall defective items.
The MEC said it will co-ordinate with the supplier to ensure the recall of defective products and communicate with customers to ensure that the necessary procedures have been taken.
