Ushantha’s big century set up a 267-run rout of Bangladesh Club by HBK in the Qatar Airways Division A Cricket League at the West Bay Grounds.
The Qatar Cricket Association is hosting the national league to provide exposure to the players.
Batting first, Ushantha plundered a brilliant 178 and Dilashrihit a stylish 74, which enabled HBK to amass 408 for four in 35 overs. Mughees (37), Nimantha (33) and Joseph (28) also contributed useful individual scores. Munna picked two wickets.
Bangladesh Club could not bear the run-rate pressure and collapsed at 141 in 34 overs. Fokhrul, who cracked 52, offered the toughest resistance to the rivals. Johny made 24. Lahiru was the wrecker-in-chief, dismissing four players. Ushantha, Mughees and Gayan all got a wicket each.
Waleed starred in Commercial Bank Qatar’s 67-run triumph against Doha Falcon in the second match. Waleed cracked a superb 113, which provided the nucleus to his team’s big 337 for seven in 45 overs.
Habib (51) and Dharmang (53) batted solidly to register half-centuries. Aamir (43), Sajjad (24) and Ali (22) were other contributors. Amjad Khan and Kushal shared four wickets.
Doha Falcon battled bravely but it was not enough as they were wrapped up for 270 in 43 overs. Hasitha led their reply with 63, Nafiaz (32), Muftab (31) and Damith (30) batted well and delayed the inevitable to some extent.
Galfar Al Misnad also turned out to be a big winner as they crushed the challenge of Doha Youngstars by 133 runs. Galfar made a modest 263 all out in 45 overs. Kamran (three wickets), Iqbal (three wickets) and Rawaayt (two wickets) bowled well for Doha Youngsters XI.
In reply, Doha Youngsters could barely reach 130 in 36 overs. Taimoor (61) was the mainstay of their batting. Umer and Imraz snapped three wickets each, while Suneth added two scalps.
