Warriors roll Thunder to match Bulls’ 1996 record

Reigning league MVP Stephen Curry returned to the lineup and the Golden State Warriors remained undefeated at home in a historic way.
Curry hit five triples en route to 33 points to help the Warriors tie the NBA record with their 44th consecutive regular-season home victory, 121-106 over the Oklahoma City Thunder on Thursday night.
Golden State haven’t lost at Oracle Arena since January of 2015, as they matched the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls, who ran the table from March 30, 1995 until April 4, 1996.
“It’s an amazing accomplishment and special for our fans,” said Curry, who sat out the last game with a left ankle injury.
“That’s a high level of consistency every single night and we want to keep it going. If we don’t lose a home game the rest of the season, good thing are going to happen.”
“We’re in the moment right now,” added Warriors guard Shaun Livingston, who had 11 points and a team-high eight assists. “If we look back it’s pretty cool to be in that company because those are legends.”
With their sixth straight win and 17th in the last 18 outings, the defending NBA champs (55-5) are also taking serious aim at the Bulls’ 72-10 record as the best in history.
Klay Thompson tallied 21 points, Draymond Green had 14 points eight rebounds and seven assists for Golden State, which outscored their opponents 39-23 in the decisive final frame to complete a 3-0 season series sweep.
“In the second half we picked up the intensity,” Livingston added.
“In the first half we weren’t very good defensively.”
Kevin Durant had 32 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists while Russell Westbrook finished with 22 points on just 8-of-22 shooting for the Thunder (42-20), which lost for the sixth time in the last eight games, including Saturday’s 121-118 overtime thriller against the Warriors.
“I’m not happy with the way we’re playing,” Durant said. “We’ve definitely got to get it under control.”
Golden State trailed 80-71 with 4:53 left in the third quarter, but closed on a 9-1 run to pull within one.

Elsewhere:
lSan Antonio Spurs 94, New Orleans Pelicans 86: Kawhi Leonard had 30 points, 11 rebounds and his sixth triple of the game with 35 seconds left to cap a 20-5 run, sending the visiting Spurs past the Pelicans for their seventh straight win and 13 in 14 games.
LaMarcus Aldridge netted 26 points for San Antonio (52-9) which won its fifth consecutive road game. Eric Gordon tossed in 23 points while Anthony Davis had 17 with 13 boards for New Orleans, (23-37) winners of the last three home meetings in the series.
lMiami Heat 108, Phoenix Suns 92: Dwyane Wade dropped in 27 points, Goran Dragic added 25 against his former club and the Heat (35-26) won their third in a row while sending the downward-spiraling Suns to a franchise-record tying 17th consecutive road loss. Rookie guard Devin Booker had a career-best 34 points for Phoenix (15-46), which never led en route to its 30th loss in 33 games.
