Vodafone begins campaign on spam calls awareness

Vodafone Qatar has launched a campaign to raise awareness about spam calls and messages that some customers might be receiving.
This is in line with the company’s commitment to ensuring the highest levels of customer security and data protection.
In a statement, Vodafone Qatar said: “Our customers may have received a call or message via WhatsApp recently from an unknown local or international number informing them that they have won a cash prize from Vodafone Qatar. Vodafone Qatar would like to assure all its customers that our competitions are SMS-based with the sender listed as “Vodafone” or the number 97773.
“We will not contact our customers via WhatsApp and we ask them not to answer these messages or return these calls as it may be a scam. Vodafone is committed to its customers’ protection and is working to block such scams so that they do not receive them in future.”
Vodafone Qatar said it encourages its customers to contact its call centre on 111 to inform the customer care team of any such numbers. Vodafone will then draw all the necessary information related to that number and refer it to the law-enforcement authorities as appropriate to take due action.
