Bikers’ group Soul Riders has donated around QR87,000 for the establishment of a mosque and the drilling of a well in Bangladesh.
Khaled al-Hammadi, founder of Soul Riders, presented the donation on behalf of the group to Nayef al-Rumaihi, public affairs head, board of directors, QC.
The mosque, which is to be built on an area of 120sqm, will consist of a furnished room for prayers, a minaret, a loudspeaker, three toilets and a place for wudu (ablution). In addition, a well will be drilled to provide drinking water. It will have a manual pump.
“The donations were the outcome of the third charity exhibition for motorcycles and classical cars, which was recently organised by the team in Qatar. Soul Riders chose QC because the team wishes to provide drinking water to the needy people of Bangladesh and support QC’s humanitarian projects around the world,” said al-Hammadi.
He stressed this was neither the first time – nor the last – for the group to work with QC. The team members are working on expanding their partnership with QC to serve and help develop the Qatari community in particular and
humanitarian work in general.
“The Soul Riders are willing to pay field visits in co-ordination with QC to shed more light on the importance of providing relief to people and offer
humanitarian aid,” he added.
After receiving the donation, QC gave Soul Riders a shield of appreciation for its efforts and hard work to help the needy and attempts to introduce humanitarian and
charity work through its events.
In return, Soul Riders gave QC a certificate of appreciation to commend its role in charity work.
Al-Rumaihi thanked Soul Riders for its gesture, which would encourage athletes and youths to be more involved in voluntary work. “We hope to further co-operate with Soul Riders and other similar groups,” he said.
QC’s office in Bangladesh will supervise the construction of the mosque and the drilling of the well. The project is expected to be completed within a year from its date of implementation.
