Turkmenistan visit will further boost ties: Emir

HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani stressed that his visit to Turkmenistan will further boost bilateral relations, especially as the two countries signed a number of co-operation agreements, expressing his thanks to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the invitation as well as for the warm welcome during the visit.
In a joint statement with the president of Turkmenistan following the session of talks, the Emir  expressed his confidence that his visit will enhance bilateral relations, while underlining the importance attached by both sides to promote relations, a matter which was highlighted in the session of talks that dealt with a range of issues of common concern, particularly the current challenges and crises facing the world and how to deal with them.
With regards to bilateral relations, the Emir pointed out that HE the Foreign Minister was mandated to head the joint committee between the two countries while for Turkmenistan it will be headed by its foreign minister.
The Turkmen president said during the talks that the joint committee will follow up on the approved decisions and joint projects.
Yesterday’s talks, the Emir added, dealt with co-operation in culture, arts and sport and how the joint committee and working teams will co-ordinate in different fields.
The Emir said that both countries enjoy ample natural resources, stressing the importance of mutual co-operation to make use of expertise and investment in this regard.
The Emir congratulated the Turkmen president on his country’s hosting of Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017.
He added that the two sides discussed during the session of talks Qatar’s experience in organising mega sport events along with programmes initiated by Qatar for community health and combating global epidemics, welcoming co-operation with Turkmenistan to benefit from Qatar’s experience in organising Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games 2017.
The Emir hailed the great progress attained by Turkmenistan in different sectors, expressing readiness for boosting co-operation between the two sides in economy and energy and in increasing trade exchange.
The Emir invited the president of Turkmenistan to visit Qatar.
For his part, the president of Turkmenistan said that his talks with HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani will further promote bilateral relations and praised the existing co-operation between both sides.
He added that yesterday’s talks opened new chapter of co-operation between both countries and their peoples, pointing out that they discussed issues of mutual concern along with regional and international affairs.
He also hailed Qatar’s unlimited support for his country in international forums, lauding the 20 years diplomatic relations between the two countries. He said that there were great potentials and joint opportunities for the two sides to take advantage out of them in trade, economy as well as in expanding other areas of co-operation.
The agreements signed yesterday, he said, will promote trade exchange and help in finding economy and investment opportunities through the Qatar-Turkmenistan joint committee, along with the available opportunities in culture, science, education and sport, praising the role played by Qatar when it hosted Doha Asian Games 2006 as well as its efforts to host FIFA World Cup 2022.
President Berdimuhamedov reiterated his country’s willingness to take advantage of Qatar’s experience in this regard.
