RasGas sets milestone with 500th LNG delivery to Taiwan’s CPC

RasGas marked a milestone with its delivery of the 500th LNG cargo to their long-term customer CPC Corporation, Taiwan (CPC) on March 5.
Qatar’s LNG major “reaffirmed its reputation for operational reliability and efficiency and their long-term commitments, as it continues to provide its customers with compelling, competitive and tangible advantages in an evolving LNG market.”
The 500th LNG cargo was loaded on to CPC’s  Taitar (TaiwanQatar) No. 4 vessel at Ras Laffan Port on March 5 under the long-term sales and purchase agreement (SPA) between CPC and RasGas II.
In 2011, RasGas 3 and CPC signed  a second long-term supply of LNG from RasGas which increased the annual sales to over 5mn tonnes per year to CPC and Taiwan.
In addition, RasGas has delivered some 72 cargoes, approximately 4.4mn tonnes of LNG, to CPC on a spot basis since 2007.
RasGas chief marketing & shipping officer Khalid Sultan R al-Kuwari said, “As a long-term LNG supplier to CPC, RasGas is pleased to achieve this major milestone with our long-standing partners. We have come a long way since signing our first ever SPA with CPC in 2005. Last year, we extended the partnership to joint corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities with CPC through the ‘Energising Education’ initiative. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with CPC and the people of Taiwan even further.”
The ‘Energising Education’ initiative benefited nine local schools in Taichung, Taiwan, bringing tangible benefits to hundreds of students in the local community by providing upgrades to educational resources and facilitating better learning opportunities for students.
RasGas is a Qatari joint stock company established in 2001 by Qatar Petroleum and ExxonMobil RasGas Inc.
RasGas acts as the operating company for and on behalf of the owners of the liquefied natural gas projects RL, RL II and RL III. With operations facilities based in Ras Laffan Industrial City, RasGas’ principal activities are to extract, process, liquefy, store and export LNG and its derivatives from Qatar’s North Field.
RasGas, on behalf of the project owners, exports to countries across Asia, Europe and the Americas with a total LNG production capacity of approximately 37mn tonnes a year.
