Justice Minister meets Canadian, Kyrgyz envoys

HE the Minister of Justice Dr Hassan Lahdan Saqr al-Mohannadi yesterday held separate meetings with the ambassadors of Canada and Kyrgyzstan, Adrian Norfolk and Nuran Niyazaliev, respectively.
The meetings reviewed co-operation in the legal field and the exchange of expertise.

Qatari-British bilateral relations discussed  
British state secretary for Middle East and North Africa Tobias Ellwood met Qatar’s ambassador to the United Kingdom Yusouf bin Ali al-Khater in London yesterday.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Qatar and Britain and the means to further develop them in addition to topics of mutual interest.

Consumer protection workshop
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce (MEC) is holding a two-day international workshop on competition and consumer protection in collaboration with the General Secretariat of the Gulf Co-operation Council and the US Federal Trade Commission.
The workshop, titled “Achieving Effective Consumer Protection and Competition through Cross-Border Co-operation”, begins today. It will bring together experts and specialists in the field of competition and consumer protection from the GCC and US Federal Trade Commission.
The participants will address several topics pertaining to competition and consumer protection laws, review matters related to competition and consumer protection in the automotive sector and exchange experiences in the areas of commercial fraud, ways of fraud verification and evidence collection methods.

Skoda Octavia models recalled
The Ministry of Economy and Commerce, in collaboration with Ibin Ajayan Automobiles, has announced the recall of Skoda Octavia 1.6 L models of 2015.
The recall is to adjust the engine valve timing for intake and exhaust by checking the camshaft sprocket and do the necessary adjustment.
The MEC said the recall campaign comes within the framework of its ongoing efforts to protect consumers and ensure that car dealers follow up on vehicles’ defects and repair them.
The MEC will co-ordinate with the dealer to follow up on the maintenance and repair works and communicate with customers to ensure that the necessary repairs are carried out.
