Partido Galing at Puso (PGP) presidential candidate Senator Grace Poe has said she would replace all Cabinet members of President Benigno Aquino with honest, effective and capable individuals should she win in the May 9 elections.
“Manny will be replaced,” she stressed. “I think almost all of the Cabinet members will have to go.” But she gave assurance that a member of her Cabinet need not be her ally; what’s important is for that person to have the expertise, knowledge and a genuine desire to serve the people.
“Even if you are an ally or have campaigned against me, for as long as you are honest, hardworking, and has no corruption records, we will hire you,” Poe stressed. She also said she would take a tough stance against corrupt and abusive people, and vowed to put an end to the so called “padrino system” (patronage) in government.
Poe said that her government would observe a system of strong merit and good governance, where both allies and critics of the administration will be treated fairly.
“People would not have to worry that their concerns will fall on deaf ears just because their leader is not allied with the administration,” she said in a speech during her visit in Samar province.
She said the top priorities of her “Gobyernong may Puso” will be free college education in state colleges and universities, job creation among others.
