Tuganov, Karaevli pick up Doha Tour wins

Russia’s Vladimir Tuganov won yesterday’s main event during the second leg of the QNB Doha Tour equestrian championship. The two-time Olympian, who is on his third visit to Doha, had won at the Qatar International Show Jumping Championship last December, and he continued his good fortune here.

The event was won by Turkey’s Omer Karaevli, a regular on the Doha circuit. Karaevli, who qualified for this year’s Olympics in Rio at CHI Al Shaqab, the first from Turkey do so in 56 years, was in good form.
The 38-year-old guided 11-year-old Rabane De Sury in a time of 63.38 seconds to finish top of the standings. Karaevli took home QAR 32,500 in prize money. UAE’s Abdullah Mohd al-Marri came second on Ams Catch Me, behind Lund on Carisma B.

The 2nd leg of the QNB Doha Tour CSI4*Showjumping has attracted a total of 83 riders and 130 horses. The three-day competition is carrying a total prize money of QAR 1,567,500.
The final 3rd leg of the QNB Doha Tour will take place at Katara in Doha from March 24-26, while the first leg was held last week concurrently with the prestigious CHI Al Shaqab championship.
