Thompson, Curry combine for 71 as Warriors rout Blazers

The ‘Splash Brothers’ were on target early and often, and the Golden State Warriors avenged their worst loss of the season. Klay Thompson dropped in 37 points, Stephen Curry had 34 and combined for 15 three-pointers, as the Warriors extended their record-setting home winning streak to 47 - 29-0 this season - with a 128-112 domination of the Portland Trail Blazers on Friday.
“We were both on fire not settling for good shots but great shots,” said Thompson. “When that happens we’re a tough team to beat.”
The defending league champions got a measure of payback after being dealt a 137-105 drubbing on February 19 at Portland. “You want to have a short-term memory in this league but they gave us our worst-beating of the season,” Thompson said. “We wanted to show them what a great team we are at home and redeem ourselves.”
Draymond Green collected 17 points, 13 rebounds and as many assists as the Warriors (58-6), matched a season-low with eight turnovers in the beat-down. “Our focus and ball movement were great, and when you don’t have many turnovers you tend to defend better,” Warriors coach Steve Kerrr said. “For the most part our defence was really good.”
Thompson hit seven three-pointers and Curry connected on four from behind the arc en route to 23 points apiece, as the Warriors shot a sizzling 58.7 per cent from the field en route to a season-high 81-61 halftime cushion. “From the start, Klay came out blazing, not so much me and we fed off that,” Curry said. “It was a huge pick-up.”
Golden State kept its foot on the pedal and led by as many as 32 in the third quarter and never allowed the lead to dip below 14.  CJ McCollum led Portland (34-32) with 18 points, while Damian Lillard had just 17 on 5-of-19 shooting after torching the Warriors for a career-high 51 points in the last meeting. The Warriors (18) and Blazers (19) combined for 37 3-pointers, the most by two teams in an NBA game.
