An expatriate Arab man has been sentenced in absentia to three years in jail and subsequent deportation for stealing a sum of QR8,000 from the wardrobe of his colleague at work.
According to local Arabic daily Arrayah, a Doha Criminal court convicted the man of stealing the money from the wardrobe of his roommate who is also his colleague at work. The victim discovered the theft when he returned from work and found the money missing from his wardrobe, so he asked his roommate about it. The defendant accordingly admitted to his colleague that he took the money and wrote a confession indicating so, promising return it back. However, the issue was brought to the police and then the court and the defendant did not appear before both.
