HMC team wins top award

A team of senior leaders from Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) received the health education leadership award presented by the Arab Hospitals Federation during its 17th forum held recently in Egypt.
The team won the award in recognition of a documentary film detailing their experience of trekking to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro last year. The film emphasised the importance of physical exercise for all ages. The film also sends a message that older people can engage in different kinds of sports including climbing mountain peak.
Mohamed Mubarak al-Noimi, chief of communications and chief of staff at HMC’s managing director’s office, received the award on behalf of HMC from Dr Ahmad Imad Addin Rady, minister of health and population of Egypt and Dr Tawfik bin Ahmad Khoja, director-general of the executive board of the GCC Health Ministers Council and Secretary General of Arab Hospitals Federation.
Ali Abdullah al-Khater, chief of communications at HMC’s Corporate Communications Department and chairman of the HMC delegation to the forum thanked the Arab Hospitals Federation for the award and recognition, saying the award reflected the importance HMC places on creating health awareness among Qatar’s population.
“At HMC, we always urge the public to adopt a healthy lifestyle, especially by engaging in activities that contribute to the prevention of diseases. Health education is part of our role in promoting a healthy community by giving people the knowledge to take control of their own health,”al-Khater said.
Speaking during a discussion panel comprising distinguished Arab Health Ministers, Dr Saleh bin Ali al-Marri, assistant secretary general for Medical Affairs at the Ministry of Public Health, noted that constant migration of Arab medical practitioners out of the region is one of the main challenges facing the development of healthcare systems in the Arab region.
