Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC) recently welcomed new classes of participants for an interactive orientation programme at its Al Bidda Tower headquarters.
The event provided the Qatari professionals entering its Executive, Rising and Government Leaders Programmes with an opportunity to deepen their insight into the objectives of QLC, along with the diverse elements of the QLC learning experience, while featuring a number of team-building exercises designed to support the group, according to a statement.
Sheikh Dr Abdulla bin Ali al-Thani, QLC’s managing director and member of the board of directors, said: “I am pleased that the new participants admitted to Qatar Leadership Centre continue the tradition of excellence established by their predecessors and reflect the same determination to contribute to Qatar’s national development, and to apply what they learn to their own professional lives.”   
The QLC orientation featured a number of team-building exercises for participants to learn about their peers and form the personal bonds and professional networks that will benefit them both during their time at QLC and after they have completed the programme.
The activities involved a wide range of team-oriented activities, whose mastery requires group planning and effort within a limited timeframe.
Activities throughout the event centred on enhancing skills such as communication, teamwork, creativity and management, which will prove to be beneficial for the participants’ leadership development, the statement added.
The five-day event also included a number of sessions on the programme objectives as well as the different components of each programme.
The newly admitted 120 Qatari professionals to QLC programmes will contribute to Qatar National Vision 2030 and continue applying their expertise to facilitate Qatar’s ongoing transition to a knowledge-based economy.  
Dr Khalid Abdulla al-Yafei, senior consultant at Hamad Medical Corporation and participant in the Executive Leaders Programme, said: “For me, participating in the programme will prove invaluable for my work in the healthcare sector.”
Maryam Ibrahim al-Sadah, a participant in the Government Leaders Programme and who works at the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, observed: “By engaging with my fellow peers from a wide range of sectors and organisations, I will also have the opportunity to discover and share valuable insights, along with best practices.”
Faisal al-Sulaiti, head of production technology at Qatar Petroleum and participant in the Rising Leaders Programme, added: “The lessons we take from QLC will be invaluable in our professional and personal lives.”  
During their time at QLC, participants attend a variety of modules and policy seminars held over the course of a year.
