Same-day appointments at health centres

The changes made by the Primary Health Care Corporation ( PHCC) on the triage system has helped the patients visiting the health centres to get appointment on the same day with priority given to the emergency cases.
The PHCC said that the revisions and improvements undertaken on the triage system has benefitted the patients immensely. The initiative has helped in reducing the congestion in some health centres and made the procedures smoother.
The Corporation has confirmed that patients will not be returned without receiving the required healthcare, in accordance with the procedures followed by the health centres and according to triage health system. The triage system provides appointments, and regulates the consultation with the doctor depending on the patient cases.
The Corporation noted that it is working on community awareness about the importance and benefits of new system  through all the available means, including social communication channels and by raising awareness within the health centres. There is also a dedicated team to receive and monitor the complaints and suggestions and respond to them immediately.
The medical triage system has allowed quick check for cases that need urgent medical advice, which reduces the chance of complications for the patient. The triage medical service is provided to patients through trained staff of doctors, nurses and other workers who will provide support for all patients visiting the health centres without prior appointments.
