Qatargas employees and contractors recently participated in two blood donation campaigns organised by the company’s medical department, in co-operation with Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), at the Qatargas Doha head office and Ras Laffan headquarters.
A fully equipped mobile blood donation unit arrived from the HMC along with a team of medical professionals. It was parked on the Qatargas premises to help facilitate the drive. The HMC team was assisted by Qatargas medical centre personnel.
As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, Qatargas has been organising blood donation campaigns on its premises over the past 15 years in co-operation with HMC, the company said in a statement. Hundreds of Qatargas employees and contractors have donated blood during these campaigns.
The company organises four blood donation drives each year, two each in Doha and Ras Laffan. In addition to boosting supplies at the blood bank, Qatargas believes that such campaigns also help disseminate a culture of voluntary blood donation in the society, the statement said.
Qatargas has also been supporting, as a platinum sponsor, the World Blood Donor Day celebration organised by HMC over the past three years. HMC has felicitated Qatargas in recognition of the company’s initiative in organising blood donation drives every year and in appreciation of its support to the World Blood Donor Day celebration.
