‘Family Fun Friday’ enthralls children at Pearl-Qatar

A simple yet colourful ‘Family Fun Friday’ event attracted dozens of children who took part in various entertainment and fun-filled activities at the Pearl-Qatar today.

Mascots led by Barney and M&Ms greeted visitors, mostly families, along Porto Arabia’s board walk while a number of clowns organised some colouring and drawing activities, face painting, and balloon twisting. During some intervals of the programme, an illusionist enthralled the crowd.

United Development Company's (UDC) marketing and communications director Hussain Akbar al-Baker said they want to provide wholesome and fun-filled activities to entertain families at the Pearl Qatar especially during the weekend.

“Families are very happy with such activity, they come to eat, drink and relax while their children enjoy the rest of the day playing and participating in our games,” he noted.

According to al-Baker, entry is free to families and their children who want to spend their Friday at the Pearl Qatar from 3.30pm to 7.30pm.

‘Family Fun Friday’ started on March 11 and will continue until April 1 (at La Croisette 30), the last day of the weekly activity prior to summer. The event on March 25 is at La Croisette 18.

The UDC official said the activity also gives children an opportunity to mingle and meet new friends while enjoying the entire entertainment with the stilt walker, juggler, and friendly clowns, at La Croisette 14 (between Spinneys and Caribou Coffee).

“We have set up a drawing area for young visitors to interact and paint while eating free popcorn and cotton candy,” he added.

Many parents felt the activities served as a “perfect treat” to their children who spend most of their time playing online games with their tablets and smart phones at home.

One mother hoped more similar activities will be organised in the coming months, particularly during the summer season. Others are also suggesting some recreational activities to engage children in physical and more interactive games.

‘Family Fun Friday’ was previously held at Porto Arabia’s Medina Centrale with the same timings and entertainment activities for families.

The Pearl Qatar also hosted similar undertakings during National Day celebrations in December, the holy month of Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr celebrations.

Al-Baker said they are planning to continue organising such activities in the coming years due to the huge demand at the Pearl Qatar.
