More rain on Monday, Tuesday

More rain and thunder are expected in the country from Monday evening until Tuesday evening due to the extension of a low-pressure system, the Qatar Met department has said.

After a rise in temperature on Monday, the rain and winds are likely to bring down the mercury level on Tuesday and this condition is expected to continue for the next couple of days, according to the weather forecast.

Weather charts indicate that “the country will be affected by an extension of a low-pressure system between Monday evening and Tuesday evening as the skies are expected to gradually become partly cloudy to cloudy with chances of scattered rains of variable intensity, which may be thundery and accompanied by strong winds at times,” the report states.

Tomorrow, southeasterly to southwesterly winds - moderate to fresh – are expected in the country, leading to an above-average rise in temperature - reaching more than 30C with dusty skies over some areas.

“The temperature will drop on Tuesday as a result of the expected rains. The relative drop in temperature is expected to continue on Wednesday and Thursday (March 23-24) as the country will be affected by moderate to fresh northwesterly winds, becoming strong over some areas, with sea warnings for high waves and strong winds,” the report adds.

The Met department has urged people to remain cautious and avoid sea activities during the period of unstable weather and strong winds, and follow latest updates and warnings through its different official social media accounts.

Hot day forecast today

Meanwhile, Sunday’s forecast says strong winds and high seas are expected in the early hours in offshore areas.

The wind speed in these areas may go up to 25 knots at first, with the sea level rising to 8ft. Partly cloudy and slightly dusty conditions are also likely, and it will be hazy to misty by night.

Inshore areas, meanwhile, will be relatively hot during the day, and slight dust and scattered clouds are also expected.

The minimum and maximum temperatures in the country today are expected to be 15C and 29C, respectively, with the forecast for Doha being 21C and 29C.
