Entrepreneur Joy Alukkas has been honoured with the Business Excellence Award 2016 at a gala event organised by the Indian Business & Professional Council (IBPC).
The award was presented to Alukkas, chairman and managing director of Joyalukkas Group, by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak al-Nahyan, the United Arab Emirates Minister of Culture, Youth and Social Development, at the event held in Dubai recently.
IBPC is the only representative organisation of Indian businesses and professionals in Dubai.
“Every recognition is heart-warming and being honoured with the Business Excellence Award by the esteemed IBPC makes me feel very special. I am an Indian who owes my success to the UAE and its visionary leaders; the IBPC also works towards the interests of Indian businesses and professionals in the UAE, which means they play an important role in helping businessmen like me in many important aspects of my business interests. I thank all the office-bearers of IBPC for this honour,” said Alukkas.
Alukkas has grown his business from a single jewellery showroom to a multi-billion dollar global business empire in a span of 29 years. His flagship business is Joyalukkas Jewellery, which is today a 120-plus showroom chain spread across 11 countries around the world. The other business interests include money exchange, malls, fashion and silks retail, realty and luxury air charter, according to a statement.
“Brand Joyalukkas today is a household name across the world, thanks to Joy Alukkas’s vision and commitment to excel and constantly innovate. For someone who has rarely - if ever - based his decisions on the modern management tools such as graphs, scales and projections, his meteoric rise is a role model of entrepreneurial grit and intuitive enterprise,” the statement adds.
