Camels 1 consolidated their position by defeating Camels 2 (31-0) at the Aspire warm up and purpose built rugby track on Saturday.
Both teams started very well, but it was the senior side who managed to out manoeuvre their junior mates scoring five tries and 3 drop conversions.
Camels 2, however, bounced back in their second match against the Blue Falcons amassing a whopping 53-0. The win/lose for Camels 2 has caused them to relinquish second position to the inform Hurricanes for the first time in the competition league.
The Hurricanes who have been able to register back-to-back wins in recent weeks continued their strong performance with two massive wins. Led by captain Issac Banks the Hurricanes defeated Al Khor 34 – 5 and helped themselves to a massive unanswered 64 points against the North Atlantic boys (CNAQ).
With two weeks before the finals Camels 2 has a bye in hand and two remaining matches against Al Khor and the Lions. The Hurricanes on the other hand have one bye in hand and three remaining matches against Al Khor, Blue Falcons and the Lions.
Unless the Hurricanes lose all three matches and it appears highly unlikely the Camels 2 will have to settle for third placing at best. Such a result will pip both teams up against each other in the knock out semi-finals.In the other two matches played on Saturday, Al Khor accounted for the Blue Falcons 17 -7 and beat CNAQ 26-17.
