CRA assigns 189 temporary frequencies for MotoGP, MXGP

The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) met the substantial radio-communication requirements of the Commercial Bank Grand Prix of Qatar and MXGP of Qatar, assigning 189 temporary frequencies besides approving as many as 1,115 different types of radio equipment such as walkie-talkies, wireless microphone systems and wireless cameras for the organiser of the events — Losail Circuit Sports Club.
With clear, high quality and interference-free operations an essential the teams, the broadcasters, and media agencies, including Dorna Sports, the exclusive commercial and television rights holder, CRA stepped up to the task, providing major support in line with its national mandate, which includes managing scarce resources such as the radio spectrum.
MotoGP as the premier motorcycle racing championship receives pan-global TV coverage, and as such requires top-class radio-communication facilities.
Approvals for the events were granted within a short time period and CRA also extended its full support for the timely release of imported equipment shipped to Qatar in co-operation with the concerned authorities in Qatar.
For the benefit of organisers of big events that require use of radio-communication devices and temporary spectrum frequencies, CRA has made available relevant forms and guidelines on its website www.cra.gov.qa.

CRA uses its regulatory powers mandated by the Emiri decree to protect consumer rights, ensure competition, manage the resolution of disputes, and manage the electromagnetic spectrum. In all its activities, the CRA seeks to ensure the provision of advanced, innovative and reliable ICT, and postal services across the State of Qatar.
