The Lebaiab Health Centre will introduce new services such as psychotherapy clinic, cancer-screening programme and ‘beautiful smile’ programme to fight tooth decay, soon.
Dr Mona al-Sa’adi, of Primary Health Care Corporation, said that 9,000 visitors have registered during the first three months at the health centre and 10,000 are expected to register at the health centre for various cases in the first year.
Dr al-Sa’adi said, “The psychotherapy clinics are limited to treat moderate cases of mental illness, such as moderate stress and depression, through medication or psychological therapy sessions. However, advanced cases of mental illness will be referred to Hamad Medical Corporation.”
Dr al-Sa’adi noted that early screening programme to detect breast and colon cancer will be among the new programmes slated to be implemented in the near future.
She added that the family doctor service is other new service that will be applied at the health centre.
This service includes a certain number of individuals and families to be consulted by a specific family doctor, who will have a full knowledge of the family’s medical history. The doctor will work with them to motivate them to take preventive actions through the early detection of diseases that may threaten their lives.
