Noor Abuissa, one of Qatar’s rising artists, is collaborating with Salam Stores for a museum-inspired installation and exhibition titled Fashion Dream House.
Inspired by the interaction between art and fashion, Fashion Dream House will use clothing from the latest Spring Summer 2016 fashion collections at Salam Stores and Noor’s art to “bring to life everyday living scenes in a playful way” through installations around the ground floor at The Gate Mall, according to a statement.
The exhibition will be open to the public from March 31 until May 31.
“I am honoured to have the chance to co-curate the Fashion Dream House exhibition at one of the region’s premier retailers and collaborate with a company that has been a long-standing supporter of my career,” said Noor.
Her art is inspired by the fundamentals of Islamic design, which she utilises to communicate emotions through the use of geometry and vibrant colour. She is drawn to the balance achieved through the symmetry in this abstract form of art.
“Noor’s chosen media span painting, sculpture and furniture design, adapting the power of colour and simplicity in form and undeniable beauty of her inspiration into various media,” the statement notes.
Noor is currently an Artist in Residence at Qatar Museums’ Fire Station in Doha and is exploring the use of public interactive installations to bring a new dimension of her art to a public audience.
As a leading retailer, Salam offers more than 450 of the world’s top designer labels, with many being exhibited as part of the Fashion Dream House collection.
“We are proud to support homegrown talent like Noor, whose designs and modern interpretation of traditional Islamic artwork meld history and modernity, art and fashion in a beautiful way,” said AbdulSalam Abu Issa, deputy COO, Salam International.
The opening of the exhibition will be accompanied by a launch event on March 31, between 7pm and 9pm.
