Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) and a large group of its partners in the public and private sectors, including hotels and tourist establishments, joined the world in marking Earth Hour 2016 by switching off or dimming lights for one hour on Saturday night.
Hotel guests also participated by dimming their lights in their rooms or hotel apartments from 8.30pm to 9.30pm.
The 40 tourism establishments who participated include The Ritz Carlton Doha, Sharq Village & Spa, Movenpick Tower & Suites Doha, Sealine Beach Resort, Al Sultan Beach Resort, Wyndham Grand Regency Doha, Millennium Hotel Doha, La Cigale Hotel, Grand Hyatt Doha, W Doha Hotel & Residences, Grand Regal Hotel, Kempinski Residences & Suites, Oryx Rotana Doha and City Center Rotana, The Torch Doha, The St Regis Doha, Concorde Hotel Doha, Intercontinental Doha The City, Hilton Doha Hotel, Crowne Plaza Doha - The Business Park, Retaj Royale, Banana Island Resort, Kempinski Marsa Malaz, Radisson Blu Hotel, Mercure Grand Hotel, Gloria Hotel Doha, Swiss BelHotel, Holiday Villa Hotel & Residence, K108 Hotel, Amari Doha, Gulf Paradise Hotel, Zubarah Boutique Hotel, Copthorne Hotel Doha, Le Mirage Suites, Somerset West Bay, Saraya Corniche, Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre, AMLAK Holding, Simaisma Resort Al Khor, L’etoile Hotel.

QTA recently released a new hotel grading and classification system that is paving the way for a more sustainable, environmentally friendly and diverse hospitality sector.
