Nine-month road closure in Legtaifiya

A nine-month road closure will be in place from Thursday (March 24) on the two-lane dual carriageway from Legtaifiya Lagoon (Lagoona Mall side) to the South Canal Crossing on the direction towards Doha. It will be for approximately 300m in each direction (as shown in the map).

The closure, to be implemented in co-ordination with the Traffic Department will continue until the end of the year.

During the period, southbound traffic (to Doha) will be diverted to a temporary one-way road that was constructed east of the closed road near the location of the upcoming Pearl Interchange via the new roundabout in front of Lagoona Mall. The northbound traffic (to Lagoona Mall) will be diverted to Lusail Street (as shown in the attached map).

Ashghal will also be closing the existing 150m long four-lane dual carriageway from the traffic signalised junction at the Lusail Street to Lagoona Mall while diverting the traffic to a two-lane one-way leading to the new roundabout in front of the Lagoona Mall (as shown in the attached map).

The closure is required to complete the construction of the Lusail Expressway, besides expanding the Lusail Expressway from four to 12 lanes (including eight lanes being part of a tunnel), and replacing the utility lines under the road such as electricity cables, water lines and other systems.
