Bachchan, other film stars add colour as Kalyan comes to Qatar

Amitabh Bachchan, one of the best known faces of Indian cinema across the world, and leading south Indian film stars Nagarjuna, Prabhu Ganesan, and Manju Warrier, all brand ambassadors of prominent Indian jewellery group Kalyan Jewellers, went on a whirlwind tour of Qatar on Friday to open seven outlets at as many locations.
While Nagarjuna, Prabhu Ganesan, and Manju Warrier inaugurated Kalyan Jewellers outlets at Al Khor, Barwa Village and Abu Hamour in the forenoon, Amitabh Bachchan - on his first visit to Qatar - joined them for the opening of the branches at Gharrafa, Al Rayyan, Asian Town, and HBK Signal in the afternoon.
Kalyan Jewellers chairman and managing director T S Kalyanaraman and executive directors Rajesh Kalyanaraman and Ramesh Kalyanaraman were also present along with the celebrities.
The programme started off with the opening of the outlet at Al Khor at 9.30am and ended with the the showroom opening at HBK signal in Doha around 5.30pm.

Large crowds had gathered at all locations to have a glance of their favourite stars as well as to avail the inaugural offers from the jewellery group.
"Opening seven outlets on a single day is a record in jewellery industry," Kalyanaraman stated while claiming that Kalyan Jewellers has rewritten the history of jewellery shopping in Qatar, offering easy access to the customers all across the country.
"This grand foray of Kalyan into Qatar is expected to provide the customers with a wide variety and choice of gold and diamond ornaments," he said.
Addressing the thousands who had gathered at Asian Town, Bachchan, who was in Qatar for just a little over six hours, said in his famously deep baritone voice that his relationship with Kalyan Jewellers goes a long way and he was happy to endorse their products.
He also interacted with the audience and encouraged them by reciting a piece of poetry from one of his evergreen films, Kabhie Kabhie.’
Other stars also addressed the audience in their own regional language to engage the crowd from different parts of India.
Kalyan Jewellers has invested over QR200mn to start their operations in Qatar which is their third destination in the GCC region after the UAE and Kuwait. Kalyan has 11 showrooms in the UAE and three in Kuwait.
The foray into Qatar takes the total number of Kalyan Jewellers outlets to more than 90.
"The showrooms will be offering an exquisite and extensive collection of jewellery, with stunning designs," Rajesh said. The showrooms will have dedicated sections featuring Kalyan’s most popular house brands such as Ameera- exclusive Arabic wedding jewellery, Mudhra - handcrafted antique jewellery, Nimah - authentic heritage Jewellery, Anokhi – uncut diamonds, Apoorva – diamonds for special occasions, Antara – wedding diamonds and Hera – daily wear diamonds and Rang – precious stones jewellery.
"Bespoke collections such as Turkish, Antique and Omega will also be available in the showrooms," Ramesh pointed out. The designs provide a sparkling range of contemporary and traditional designs to suit every celebration apart from elevating everyday wear, he added.
Kalyan Jewellers has announced a special 45 days inaugural campaign “Win 100 gms Gold Everyday” wherein customers stand a chance to win 100gm of gold daily by making a minimum purchase of QR500 from any showroom in Qatar.
