Ooredoo sponsors online security forum for children

Ooredoo has announced that it will support the first online security forum for children, in partnership with Al Fursan Centre for Training and Consultations.
The conference will include a forum where children can express themselves and their opinions on the safety of the Internet, as well as spread awareness through young leaders on the topic of electronic crimes.
The sponsorship was agreed upon at a ceremony held recently and attended by a host of interested parties, including Fatima Sultan al-Kuwari, director of public relations and community at Ooredoo Qatar; Dr Haya al-Madhadi, director of Al Fursan Centre for Training and Consultations; and a number of children and parents.
The “I am responsible” event aims to empower young people (aged 10-15 years) to take the role of leaders for safety on the Internet in their schools and community, and enable them to act as ambassadors for social networking, according to a statement.
The forum will have a “unique twist” as it will train selected young people to teach the educational Internet skills they have learnt at the event, giving them the opportunity to develop their communication skills, leadership, creativity, innovation and a culture of social responsibility, the statement adds.
“We’re proud to sponsor the online security forum as it will give kids a chance to express their fears and the risks they face online every day. Our chosen speakers will develop solutions to raise awareness among children and provide security and safety for other young people and society,” said al-Kuwari.
The forum will focus discussions on topics such as cybercrime, dealing with social media, maintaining the privacy and protection of devices, Internet addiction and electronic games.
The speakers will consist of around 20 children who will provide educational tools, each according to the method they prefer. The children will also invite parents, friends, schools and their fellow students to take part in the forum.
