QFA organises gala ceremony to mark Emir Cup draw

The Emir Cup 2016 Draw ceremony took place yesterday at the Four Seasons Hotel Doha to announce the dates and fixtures for this year’s edition.
The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed al-Thani, President of Qatar Football Association (QFA), Saoud al-Mohannadi, Vice President of QFA, Mansoor al-Ansari, General Secretary of QFA, QFA Board Members, QFA’s partners officials of the 18 participating clubs, and members of the media.
The draw ceremony is the first of many events taking place to celebrate the the Emir Cup. A spectacular ceremony was organised this year to commemorate the 44th edition of the tournament.
The Emir Cup consists of a total of six rounds and will take place as follows: Round 1 on 18 April, Round 2 on 23 April, Round 3 on 28 April, Round 4 on 8 May, Round 5 on 13 May (Semi-finals), and Round 6 (Final) on 20 May.  
Commenting on the occasion, Mansoor al-Ansari, General Secretary of QFA said: “The Emir Cup is the most prominent championship in Qatar and is also the closing championship of the football season. The draw fixtures reveal that fans this year will witness strong confrontations between the top Qatari teams, setting up what is sure to be another exciting season of football. We wish all the teams the best of luck as we inaugurate a new edition of the championship.”
Al-Ansari added: “We would like to thank all our partners that help in contributing to the success of the championship. QFA is delighted for the longstanding relationship it has built with its’ partners to stage a more unique Emir Cup, year after year.”
This year, the championship, which will be held from April 18 to May 20, will take place across three stadiums: Al Arabi Sports Club, Qatar Sports Club, and Al Sadd Sports Club.
