A woman has been sentenced in absentia to six months in jail by a Doha criminal court for stealing money from her neighbour, local Arabic daily Arrayah reported on Friday.
The accused asked permission from the neighbour to sleep in her apartment one night citing that some maintenance work was going on in her apartment. As the victim was sleeping, the accused took QR1,600 from her handbag and left. The next day when the victim discovered the theft, she called the accused and asked about the money. The defendant admitted she took it, but claimed she did so because the victim had bought some electrical appliances from her and did not pay for them.
