Qatar’s Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has held talks with Canadian Foreign Minister Stephane Dion.
During the meeting on Thursday, the two sides discussed ways of strengthening relations between Qatar and Canada and exchanged views on international and regional issues, particularly the fight against terrorism and the situation in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
The Canadian foreign minister stressed the importance of the role played by Qatar in the fight against terrorism through its membership in the international coalition to fight the ISIS group as well as its role in finding a political solution to the Syrian crisis.
HE Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman also held talks with David McGovern, deputy national security adviser to the Canadian prime minister, and Peter MacDougall, assistant secretary to the cabinet, foreign and defence policy at Privy Council Office.
